I still don't understand why Utah gas prices continue to be higher than most of the country. Is it because we live like way up in those Rockies? It seems like every time oil prices fall, our prices continue to stay the same. It's a conspiracy dangit!
Salt Lake Tribune reports:
"It has been nearly two months since Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. announced he would be looking at Utah's high gasoline prices with a "laser-like focus."
At the time, the governor said he had ordered the state's Department of Agriculture and Food and the Department of Commerce to more actively monitor and analyze Utah's gasoline prices. Since then, there has been no public announcement of any findings.
Huntsman spokeswoman Lisa Roskelley could not be reached for comment Friday regarding the status of the investigation."
In recent weeks, a couple of refineries have been down temporarily for scheduled maintenance, "which has affected our supply somewhat, and that has an effect on prices," he said. "But again, those are temporary, and as those are completed, we should again be competitive with other areas."
They'll never get around to it. I love how they "schedule" refineries to close at specific strategic times. Someone is gouging us all, and laughing at us. I'm glad that gas prices are falling, but with many states with gasoline prices below $3.00 it makes me think that we are being taken advantage of.
