Explaining the financial crisis to a crazy old person:


Me: "No... you don't have anything to worry about."

Old person: "Are you sure?! All the banks are going under!!"

Me: "We are a small credit union... your $2000.00 is safe."

Old Person: "But what about those other banks? Do you think Zion's is next?"

Me: (sigh) "No... big banks like Wachovia, WaMu, and other investment banks went under because they had huge amounts of bad debt, and were part of the subprime mortgage mess."

Old Person: "Do we have that problem?"

Me: "No. Even though we haven't done as well as we have in the past, small institutions are fine."

Old Person: "Are you sure???"

Me: "Like I said before...blah blah blah..."


I hate old people.
