Back off!! shrink gun!
If I wasn't killed in a terrible shark attack feeding frenzy, I would rather be shrunk down and killed by a domesticated animal. Have you ever watched a cat play with a mouse? Yeah... I want to be flung in the air and crushed in gaping jaws of death. Hopefully the G-forces would knock my mini self unconscious, so I would be unable to feel the teeth crunching up my small bones.
Macie is getting pretty shaggy. She's getting a haircut on Saturday. I guess if I was shrunk down miniature size she would probably maul me to death. And then barf me out because I taste bad.
There's a Marvel superhero that reminds me of this situation: Ant-Man. One of the founding members of the Avengers, Ant-man was able to shrink to small size while retaining his strength. He developed a helmet that would allow him to communicate with ants. Probably one of the most unappreciated superheroes in the Marvel Universe, I guess because his powers were... weird. I guess if you needed a superhero on the micro level... that would work. I wonder if he had a fight with any domesicated animals?

Colorado there and back
I went out to Colorado on Friday night. My dad was running a 50 mile race in Fruita, and I just wanted to get out of town for a while. My brother and I brought our bikes and crammed them into my dad's car. After a sickening ride up Spanish Fork Canyon, we were on our way to the middle of nowhere: eastern utah/colorado. Lots of road and empty space. We got there and spent the night at a hotel.
Early the next day we dropped my dad off for the 6:30 start. Runners are freaking gross. I don't think I can ever be a long distance runner. No thanks.
We went back to the hotel and slept. My brother and I murdered a continental breakfast and went back the the race. My dad had finished his first 25 miles loop by 11:00 ish and we cheered/hassled him as he forced nasty race food into his system and then ran off for the second loop.
So after that we got out our bikes and rode around. There were tons of trails and roads around the race route so we just went all over the place. We then went down to one of the far aid stations to meet my dad on the last stage of the race. He eventually showed up but by that time we were tired. On the ride back my illiterate brother's tire went flat so he ended up walking the last 3 miles back to the car. I rode ahead to get a pump but when I came back he over inflated his tire... and it popped. Looking down the road, we saw my dad running up to finish the last mile of the race. Hilarious.
Here's a shot of my dad after finishing. He was out of it. We were all tired and burnt out. My brother and I rode close to 20 miles. I was sunburned and tired. After my dad cleaned up we started to drive back.
It was a quick trip. We had some fun, and it was good to get out of town for a little while.

finished
The final part I needed to fix the Peugeot bike frame came last week. I salvaged the frame from underneath a mountain of washing machines on the side of the road last year. Since then, I had stripped the frame down of non-essential parts, and cleaned it up a little. The freewheel I ordered fit and after measuring out the right length of bicycle chain, I took it for a spin this morning. Fast bike. I'm going to try and build my endurance for some of the summer bike tours I've been planning. The big one is:
Tour de Utah Lake. 95 miles of awesome.
The entire ride has a few hundred feet of gain/loss, and the second half is relatively flat, following the east coast of the lake. I'm hoping to try this in June.

the update
(www.youtube.com/nottblock)
I'm at a good spot with all of my papers that I need to have finished soon. Sort of. Everything will be ok.
Some setbacks to the bass guitar project: The last coat of epoxy to the neck did not cure properly, and while it looked good I must have mixed in too much resin because it remained sticky to the touch (even after a week). so I'm going to sand it off and restart.
The paints used for the body are incompatible with each other... causing some funky reactions. I sprayed a layer of primer, and then a few coats of black, and then a coat of red. The red paint and the black did not like each other. The last coat finally dried, and now the body is red. It looks good. I'll need a different black to finish the thing. Then I'll clear coat it. Right now it's snowing again, and it will probably rain next week so I won't be able to paint for a long time. Humidity is bad. I'm frustrated with the neck issue, so I don't know when I'll finish this thing.
The weather has been up and down the last few weeks. It was getting warmer outside, so I started working on that Peugeot bike frame I found last fall. I stole some parts off of another bike and everything looks like it will work out. I just need the weather to get better.
I've been up late the past few nights. I haven't been sleeping that well. Last night I was up late making a history presentation for Nat's class...
